State High Alumni Hold Special “All Classes of the 1970’s”
Reunion to Commemorate the Marching Bands
Participation in the 1972 Munich Olympics

State College Area High School Alumni are holding an All Classes of the 70’s Reunion Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Elks Country Club, Boalsburg, PA.The reunion on Saturday from 5 pm to midnight is the highlight of a weekend(August 10-12) filled with activities for those returning to celebrate their almamater.

Friday, August 10 kicks things off with an informal meet & greet starting at 7 pm at Champs. Saturday morning hosts numerous events at the high school, including tours of the new improved school, displayed memorabilia, slide show, a musical salute to former band members by current band members and a talent show guaranteed to evoke laughter and to fill your heart with nostalgia- even before reaching the Elks, where more fun and surprises await. There’s also a tribute to the class of ‘72. Sunday brings an informal brunch gathering at theAutoport followed by scheduled tours of the Arboretum. Faculty is also invited and the cost is $42. Outreach is though Facebook, emails and word of mouth, and all are asked to spread the word.

The idea started on Facebook when State High graduates started discussing how how they might honor the band after 40 years. Denise McClellan, class of ‘74, then called alum Fred Nelson,’75, and formed a committee to get things rolling. “With current events surrounding Penn State, now is the perfect time to pull the community together and celebrate all the good coming out of Happy Valley,” says McClellan (also a PSU alum).
