Joe Filko Registered – And So Can You!!!

Atlas must have shrugged when Joe Filko registered for the All Classes of the 1970s reunion Elks Club Extravaganza being held August 11, 2012!

As a High School teacher Joe exposed our “young minds” to “Atlas Shrugged”!

This was an incredible experience for us: it was thought provoking and it was 900+ pages!!! Who knew that was possible!

Now Atlas Shrugged is being made into a three part movie – the first has been released so you might want to have a quick review by watching the movie. Then again, there still is that 900 page book!!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlas_shrugged

We’ve all lived a little since then, perhaps you have some thoughts on Atlas Shrugged that you would like to discuss with Joe!

Just register and bring them with you or post them on www.statehigh.net or the Facebook discussion group!

Joe Filko successfully registered!!!

Can you???

Can John Gault???

By the way “Who Is John Galt“???

Contributions of time and effort make the difference!!!

I want to thank everybody for contributing your time, consideration, and efforts to make this happen. It’s my privilege to be a part of the event planning, and it’s wonderful to work with this group- including those who stop by or correspond via email.

I’m really proud these days to be a product of SCAHS, especially when I see the status of other schools around the country. The compassion and cooperation of the State High alumni does my heart good as we’ve all had so many life experiences since high school and now we’re (sort of, for some of us) grown up.

Because we care and want a good reunion experience for everybody, we’ve had a few production hiccups, but our teenage differences of years ago (if there ever were any) are behind us, and it’s both fun and interesting to meet, re-meet and work with the genuine Happy Valley folks with whom I grew up.

It’s a good group, pulling some good stuff together, for what’s going to be a great reunion!! ~ Yep, August 10-12, 2012. Thank you Pammy and Lyndon for creating the initial idea; among other activities, we look forward to saluting the band.

I hope to see each and every one of you at the first ever All Classes of the ’70s Reunion!!!

Stay tuned right here for additional reunion information: www.statehigh.net

All Kinds of Memories awaiting….

This little gem got me thinking of all the stupid things I (may or may not) have done in high school. ( remember, I’m innocent until proven guilty).

There’s no better way to remember those times than joining us for the All Graduating Classes of the 70s.

There are a few things that come to mind, and I’m sure I will be reminded of some of those incidents. As a matter of fact, I’m looking forward to it! Also reminiscing about our class gatherings….out in the barrens (C.C. Party)….out at the fire tower…lol. Looking forward to seeing Dave Laughlin at the reunion too. I remember listening to him on WMAJ back in the day, and thinking I can do that!

If you’re interested in helping out too, please be sure to check out www.statehigh.net for more info. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!!

Plan to attend the All Classes of the ’70s reunion!!!

Happy Valley is the Place

As State College gears up for the Blue-White Game Weekend it reminds me of one more reason why we call this Happy Valley.

State College has always had a lot to offer in so many ways. If you are a sports fan, between the area high schools and the University there is always something to attend.

Culture wise town and gown both bring assorted offerings of art, music and literature.

Yes, it’s not the big city but it’s our town and considering the situations that many parts of the country are experiencing I count myself fortunate to have a home, job and friends.

We hope to see lots of our old friends and perhaps end up making new ones at the All Classes of the 70’s reunion this summer August 10-12, 2012. We are almost ready to open the offiical registration so please keep checking the official website at: www.statehigh.net.

On The Road Again to the All Classes of the ’70s Reunion

This morning I got on my motorcycle and went for a ride. It’s great for thinking about things and clearing the mind.

As I rode, I started thinking about high school and lost opportunities. Lots of people and experiences I never got to enjoy.

But another opportunity is just around the corner.

In just a few months we will have the all 70’s class reunion. I hope that we all take advantage of this opportunity to not only reunite but that we make an effort to enrich our lives by getting to know new people too.

So, do whatever you need to do to come out for a great time and make new friends and memories.
